Other Benefits
Risk Management
The management of risk is the highlight of SCI's IEPS system. In addition to system level risk management, the system also provides the means to every possible entity (Consumer, Employer, Merchant, Reseller and Financial Institution) to manage risk at each entity level or delegate that risk management through the hierarchy of entities. The system is also flexible enough to integrate with the regional system to manage risk.
System Level Risk Management
-
External - By implementing the best available encryption algorithms, without compromising the efficiency of the system, SCI makes sure the publicly available communication channels are highly secured so that external fraudsters are kept at bay. This is accomplished by the following.
- The leveraging of Secure Socket Layer (SSL 128/256 bit encryption) certificates.
- The enforcement of tight Authentication policies and Controls Authorization rules to access minute level resources.
- The utilization of "Best of Breed" Intrusion Detection systems working in concert with multi-level firewalls.
- Internal - Most frauds are committed or initiated by someone within the organization. With that in mind, SCI has deployed strict policies for data access (physical and/or logical) along with extensive logging capabilities that track the trail of information access and change activities. Intensive system access privileges make it possible to confine a user to the access required to perform specific job tasks.
- Both - The system is also equipped to deal with "Denial of Service Attacks" initiated via internal or external means.
